Meet Lisa, the Late Bloomer

Today, I'd like you to meet Lisa, one of our new moms from the Bravado Designs Breastfeeding Diaries Class of 2011.

Lisa had her first child at the age of 37.  A self-proclaimed “late bloomer,” Lisa now finds it hard to remember what life was like before her daughter was born.  So far parenting her 3-month-old daughter HH has been amazing, exhausting, frustrating, joyous, emotional and even hilarious - all wrapped up into one.

She's exclusively breastfeeding and while she’s pleasantly surprised by how well it’s going (her daughter latched on the first try!), finding balance between feeding, pumping and working from home is quite the challenge. She is a novelist and is currently living in Chicago with her husband. In her free time she enjoys reading, writing, Pilates, yoga, traveling and watching bad TV.

Her blog will chronicle her journey into the world of parenting and breastfeeding and how new mom and baby figure out the nuances of their breastfeeding relationship together. She had originally planned to breastfeed for three months but she's already passed that milestone already! We can't wait to see how many more milestones she'll make it through!

We asked each of the new bloggers these questions to get to know them better. Here are Lisa's answers.

If you had 24 hours all to yourself, how would you spend them? Doing absolutely nothing and loving every minute of it.
If you could have dinner with any person, living or dead, who would it be? Bethenny Frankel. She's freakin hilarious. And I'm dying to find out her secret to getting a flat stomach so soon after giving birth!
How did you meet your husband? How did you know he was "the one?" We met on a blind date. I knew the night I met him that he was the one. I can't explain how I knew. I just knew.
What was your favorite thing about being pregnant? Feeling the baby move inside of me.
What do you dislike the most about being pregnant? The inability to sleep through the night. And I know, it was Mother Nature's way of preparing me. Whatever. Mama needs her sleep!
What was your favorite week or month or trimester of pregnancy? The beginning of the second trimester. I had energy for days!
What surprised you most about pregnancy? The biggest surprise to me was the overall discomfort.  Trying to get comfortable in bed has been an ongoing issue, as everything changes constantly.
Have you given any thought about how long you plan to breastfeed? If so, how long? It was going to be three months. Now I think it will be longer. How much longer, I'm not sure.
What piece of parenting advice are you most sick of hearing? "sleep when she sleeps"
What part of being a parent excites you the most? Watching her discover the world.
What part of being a parent scares you the most? The unknown.
