Recognizing your need for alone time - knowing your time might become more limited, how do you plan to book time with yourself once your baby arrives? How do you see your idea of self-care changing?
For the early stages of having a new baby I plan to keep it simple and realistic. I will do my best to communicate with my partner that I need some alone time to de-stress. For me this will be lighting a candle and having a hot epsom salt bath. Once we establish some sort of a routine, I will make an effort to carve out some micro me-time. A 15 min coffee instead of 40 minutes, a quick 5-10 min meditation. I’m also looking forward to incorporating the baby into my workout routine and breathing exercises.
Missed connections are real. Once your baby arrives, how do you plan on getting the real human interactions you crave with the adults in your life?
I’m craving human connection more than ever right now so it will be important for me to make time and not shut people out once our baby gets here. We are lucky to live down the road from family, so we plan on making time for visits and allowing the help that is offered.
Change can be stressful and take a toll on your mental health. What’s your therapy?
Music has always been a huge part of mine and my husband’s lives. It brings me to a different headspace that is truly self-care on its own. To be able to have my baby be a part of that makes it all even more special. It’s an escape from any worries for however long it lasts. I can’t wait to dance with and for my baby, letting loose and getting lost in the music.
What is your relationship with perfection? Transitioning into motherhood do you see yourself being able to accept “good enough”?
My relationship with perfection has always been a bit unhealthy, especially when it comes to my body. It will take time, but I feel a sense of new perspective and purpose coming in strong and once I bring a human life into this world, I believe I will see things with a new lens.
Keeping self-care in mind, how have Bravado Designs nursing bras helped with your journey so far?
With my journey really just about to begin, these bras give me a piece of mind knowing that it is one less thing I have to think about. I know I’m going be comfortable and it makes me feel good when I put it on. My postpartum wardrobe is ALL about the soft & comfies and Bravado bras align seamlessly (no pun intended) with that.
